Sandra Dennison is a professional artist. Her specialties include oil, pastels, acrylic and graphite. Sandra's works contain everyday objects that she transforms into dynamic masterpieces. Sandra is basically self-taught with a little fine-tuning along the way by artists like

Artist Voices: Standout Artworks from the 2007 AP Studio Art Experience
These six students were among seven who completed the drawing-based AP Studio Art course taught at Brecksville - Broadview Heights High School. The course of study is quite challenging, yet each of these pushed themselves farther than any thought possible. They have grown tremendously as artists and as individuals. During the course of a year, these students have developed a sense of what is important about their art and personal expression.
The AP Studio Art experience is a course of study outlined by the AP College Board. It requires that students create a portfolio of up to 24 artworks within a school year and have the discipline to create visual solutions at a collegiate level. Beyond the task of proving technical competence, they strive to develop a body of work that evokes intelligent aesthetic response. They are moving well beyond the collegiate foundations level and will be more than well prepared to take on the rigors of art and design school. They each have developed a voice that deserves our attention.
A strong, nationally verified AP Studio Art portfolio opens many doors to scholarships, honors placement and or college credit. All of these students achieved high marks for their effort. Kelsey Bass and Christy Surace will study art at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Hilary Demko will attend
Kent State University's Honors College to study Visual Communication and Graphic Design. Another AP classmate, Logan O'Rourke, will attend the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Deanna Turcotte, Rae Farine and Katie Bullock will be returning to BBHHS for their senior year equipped with well-developed art portfolios for fall college interviews.
We express our gratitude to the communities of Brecksville and Broadview Heights for supporting a strong art curriculum which makes this level of achievement possible. By hosting this exhibit, The Brecksville Center for the Arts once again provides our bridge to the community. Thanks to Winnie Flynn, Executive Director of BCA for her energy and insightful direction and to the BCA Board of Trustees for their generous support.

June / July 2007: Reflections... a moving tide of images connecting two generations.
Reflections is a unique joint exhibit opening on June 3 at the Gallery at Brecksville Center for the Arts. The show brings together a visual collection of art and photography that reflects the world around two artists; photographer Mark Braun and his mother, painter and longtime BCA instructor, Beverly Braun. The art will be on display during regular office hours (M-F 9:30 - 4 pm) until July 20.
New memories and old are interpreted and flow out of an artist's brush and through a photographer's lens. Some works are directly related in theme and others are evocative of work done by the other artist. Beverly describes the show as a moving tide of ideas that connect each generation to the next. Mark will exhibit more than 30 images all of which will be for sale or can be ordered. Beverly will show 10 art works, most for sale but some for display only. A Meet the Artist reception will be held at Brecksville Center for the Arts on Sunday, June 3 from 1 - 4 pm.
Mark E. Braun's interest in the camera developed at an early age. A Brecksville native, he was a high school yearbook photographer, a freelance newspaper photographer and, after college, a product photographer for catalogs and training programs. Mark's nature and travel photography was sparked by study abroad programs in high school and college.
Mark put away his camera for almost 20 years until 5 years ago when he took a 10 day road trip to Yellowstone National Park. Since then photography has become an increasing part of his life. His photographs have been accepted and displayed in St. Louis at the Foundry Art Centre, a Smithsonian Certified Gallery, and won several awards in the St. Louis Camera Club competition. He attended workshops at the Main Photography Workshops, studying under Freeland and National Geographic photographers. Mark Braun's photos, cards and other works can be seen at www.braunsOriginal.com
Beverly Braun received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and continued her studies under such teachers as Fred Leach, Lowell Ellsworth Smith and several Sumi teachers. She was a greeting card artist and designer at American Greetings Co., and has taught watercolor and drawing at Brecksville Center for the Arts and the Richfield Recreation Center for nearly 20 years.
Bev was awarded Brecksville Center for the Arts' 2004 John J. Smith Instructor of the Year Award. She also won the Roy Wilhelm Award at The Ohio Watercolor Society Show, and the OWS Exhibit Award. Her work has been exhibited at the Baycrafters Annual Juried Exhibition, the Beck Center Proscenium exhibition and at Woburn Abby in England as part of the NOVA Side by Side by Suitcase program.
Beverly and her husband were Brecksville residents from 1960 - 1980. She currently resides in Richfield, Ohio.

About Contemporary Cloth Artists:
Contemporary Cloth Artists (CoCA) is a group of approximately 30 fiber artists from northeastern Ohio, concentrated in the Greater Cleveland/Akron area .
Many CoCA members are professional studio artists who regularly exhibit in regional, national and international juried art quilt exhibitions such as Quilt National, Visions, Fiber Art International, Art Quilts at the Sedgewick, Art Quilts at the Whistler, and more. Others exhibit regularly in all-media juried art shows around the country. The majority of CoCA's members are quilt artists; however, some work in other fiber media. Several members teach the fiber arts in the areas of innovative quilt making, wearable art, and surface design. CoCA members come from all walks of life but share a love of fiber and the creative arts.
A major focus of CoCA is to provide support and continuing education for member artists while striving to promote public awareness of quilting and creative clothe as an art form through exhibitions of the group's work.
CoCA meets on the third Monday of the month except July and December at the Beachwood branch of the Cuyahoga Falls Public Library. Membership, although limited, is open to serious artists. For further information, please contact Barbara James at 440-543-3588.

Today she inspires other young artists through her classes at Brecksville Center for the Arts; Drawing at the Gazebo, Drawing with Children and Oil Pastel.

Catherine Eisenhauer
Catherine Eisenhauer has been creating artwork for 20 years. First inspired by the work of Van Gogh, who shares her birthday, she began exhibiting in 1988. Growing up in Florida, her father worked for the airlines and they traveled throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Her parents ran her through the best museums in the world--- where the textures, color, and presence of the great masters transformed her. What followed was a body of work where she created diverse surroundings for her friends. Her emerging portfolio drove her to become a professional. Her formal training was with Aqua Finishing in Florida and The School of Italian Plasters in Atlanta. She learned techniques dating back to the 1300s and practiced by the old world masters. She had original artwork displayed in The House of Representatives. Her work is for commercial and residential purposes. Her passion for color and creating beautiful spaces drives her in her work.

When asked about her unique style she says "I call it a spell; its a creative spell to always see things differently. I paint in a spirited manner
from within. I have studied art from numerous instructors my entire life and have taken that knowledge and formed my own style of painting. Painting and decorating old furniture has absorbed Stephanie for 6 years. I find it relaxing to concentrate on the old pieces making them my canvas and watching them come alive again: Calling it recycling. I have also dabbled in impressive wall murals. My creations have become a part of many homes and businesses in the area. That makes a dream of mine come true.
Currently, Stephanie teaches children at area elementary schools through the BCA After School Arts Program (ASAP.) She inspires her students as she was inspired. She says "When I was a young child, a teacher saw my natural talent in art and encouraged me to pursue it. I continue to develop my ideas and magically come up with fresh ideas," she says. "I am surrounded by inspiration."
