Sandra Dennison Supply List for Acrylic and Oil Painting

Acrylic Supply List

These are required:

  • Masterson 12-3/4 x 1-3/4 plastic sealable palette (white bottom, blue top, like Tuppreware)
  • Small spray water bottle
  • Two bowls for water
  • Portable table easel
  • One roll of paper towels
  • Brushes (2 of each) 1/2", 1", #10 These need to be water color type for best results. Brands to use are Princeton, Winsor Newton, Royal Langnickle. soft bristle brushes.


Paint:

"I use Liquitex or Prima. Other brands work too. All paint products can be purchased at Pat Catan's."

You will need many of the following paints for best results. Beginning students may bring what they have to first class.

Ultramarine blue, cobalt blue, light blue permanent, turquoise deep, light blue violet, Brilliant Blue, teal, dioxazine purple, brilliant purple, Hookers green deep, chromium oxide green, brilliant yellow green, yellow lemon, cad orange, scarlet red, alizarin crimson, acra gold, acra burnt orange, naples yellow, burnt sienna, burnt umber, ivory black, yellow oxide, parchment, warm white, titanium white,

To paint on: Water color board, canvas board, watercolor paper or stretched canvas. Any paper product needs to be covered with a smooth coat of gesso, not a se-through coat.

Other:

A PLANO tackle box is great for toting this stuff. K Mart and Wal Mart have the best prices.
Bring a note book and pencil for notes.4

Note: Alla Prima students may paint in oil or acrylic and may alternate between the two.

Oil Painting Supply List: Medium of the Masters

  • Masterson 12-3/4 x 16-3/4 plastic sealable palette with oil paint tablet inside.
  • 1 small sealable glass jar with turpenoid (No turpentine)
  • Notebook and pencil for notes
  • Small table easel
  • Paper towels
  • 11 x 14 or smaller stretched canvas or canvas board.
  • 8 oz. Liquin oil painting medium

Paint:

"You will need these colors to paint what I paint." Choose: Winsor Newton, Grumbacher

Alizarin crison, burnt sienna, burnt umber, cerulean blue (not hue) cad orange, cad yellow, scarlet, cad red, ivory black, winsor lemon, Naples Yellow, raw sienna, permanent sap green, winsor biolet, cobalt blue, French ultramarine blue, indigo, bright yellow green, Permalba white

Brushes:
"I use mainly watercolor type brushes... Winsor Newton, Princeton, Raphael, Langnickel"

Flats: #20, 12, 6, 4, 2 ...semi-soft bristles.

Other:

A 3 shelf PLANO tackle box
